I'd love to hear from some other leaders about what stuff worked for them in terms of intergenerational worship.

Louise, welcome to the Worship Ministry Catalyst Network. One of the things that I've done in my experience, is to arrange hymns in a contemporary style - that way we're still doing a hymn. At one of my churches, intergenerational worship was a big priority, so we would try to think in terms of getting all generations to appreciate the styles of the other generations. We would use things like stories to try to get the younger generation to connect with some of the hymns, we would use scripture that a contemporary chorus was taken from to get the older generation to see the relevance of the new songs. Is that what you were looking for? Or something completely different?

I think we have to think not only intergenerationally, but cross culturally as well. Who are we excluding by insisting that we flavor all our musice with a certain rhythm, beat, cadence or percussive spice?
