Worship Ministry Catalyst

A Networking resource for all worship leaders and worship team members.

Since the discussion in podcast 22, it got me thinking of some funny bloopers that has happened in worship settings. Can you contribute?
Here are two of mine - One happened at an Easter Thursday service. This was a silent service, with various stations at which you could reflect about the Easter story. At the end of this, we planned for the congregation to wander out into the night as if they were in the same town as Jesus on that first Thursday night. We had some appropriately dressed peasants and Roman guards standing around fires to keep warm as they discussed who knew Jesus - the Peter denial story. The congregation was feeling quite reflective and really felt a part of it... until the fire engines came. They had their sirens blaring and firefighters running up to the little campfires we had in the front carpark. The neighbours came to see. The most embarrassed were the people playing the Roman soldiers...as they really had not much on except for the skimpy armour and the big helmets (being authentic). Needless to say the mood was broken. And the church was reprimanded (being in Australia we are in drought and have a big fire threat!) Oops...
The other one was when I was filling in on keys or pads for our morning service. One pre-communion song was "How Deep the Father's Love". One particular verse was about Jesus' death and the worship leader decided to have pads only for that verse. During the service, by no fault of my own, the drum demo came on. And I couldn't find the off switch. Again, mood broken!
What are yours?

That was funny about the Fire Engines coming. Sounds like a really creative idea though. I'll have to think about using it in a future Easter Service or something. (I'll check with the local fire stations for permission first though.)

I must change one point - I think it was episode 20 not 22. Sorry!
